Akeem Allen received the Employee of the Year Award at NYSID’s Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony!
New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) held its annual meeting in Schenectady on Wednesday, October 19th and honored awardees from around the state. We are very proud to partner with NYSID, and grateful for the opportunities for people with I/DD that we have the privilege of supporting that are made possible because of our partnership. During a recent statewide Arc New York meeting, the following statistics were shared illustrating the impact that NYSID contracts me. Of the 6,185 jobs that were created through NYSID partnerships in 2022, 4,639 – 71% of them – were filled by people with I/DD. The average hourly wage is an impressive $21.46.
Akeem Allen: NYSID Employee of the Year
Since joining the Enclaves program of our Monarch outsourcing division in 2018, Akeem has been a rising star – consistently learning, demonstrating his potential, and making progress. He has earned a reputation as a “go-to employee” who is ready for any challenge, who masters new skills. Akeem worked throughout the pandemic, providing meticulous cleaning at his place of employment.
When asked about Akeem, people who work at the sites where he works used these words to describe him: friendly, professional, trustworthy, prompt, efficient, polite, easy going, someone who works hard and takes pride in his work, who always greets people and completes his work with a smile. In his own words “Hard work pays off,” and it’s wonderful to see Akeem being recognized for his hard work.
