Arc of Onondaga Receives CQL Accreditation

Arc of Onondaga is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a three-year National Accreditation from CQL - the Council on Quality and Leadership - an internationally recognized non-profit agency which is dedicated to the improvement of quality of life for people receiving human services.  The award, granted to agencies who have undergone strict criteria and guidelines, confirms that the organization shares CQL's vision for person-centered solutions and strives to continuously improve the quality of life for people receiving supports.

By becoming CQL certified, we're better able to serve our individuals by providing a robust person centered approach in the supports that we provide -  allowing us to really listen to those we support to find out what matters most to them and assisting them in finding ways to achieve those outcomes. These supports will help our individuals to facilitate and achieve their personal goals and aspirations. Becoming accredited is an international symbol of quality for the work we do.

For more than 40 years, The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) has been a leader in raising the bar for human service organizations and systems to continuously define, measure and improve the quality of life of all people. Organizations that are awarded accreditation by CQL meet a stringent set of criteria and demonstrate an on-going commitment to person-centered excellence. Our agency underwent a rigorous process to review and improve services and supports.  We completed self-assessments known as Basic Assurances which better help us to answer how we - as an organization -meet critical areas necessary for accreditation in both policy and practice. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to critically look at not only how we provide services, but to learn what the people we support think about those services. A true agency-wide effort, these assessments took the dedication and time of employees from all levels of the agency, board members, the people we support, community and family members. We couldn't have done it without their support and unyielding efforts.

In addition to the United States, CQL accredits or provides training at agencies and organizations in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.

Thank you to all who helped to make this possible!
