WE ARE ESSENTIAL AND WE NEED YOUR HELP

As the world continues to change, react, and respond to the COVID-19 crisis, as a provider of essential services, Arc of Onondaga continues to support people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. While we have had to make many changes to safeguard their health, supporting people to live full, inclusive lives is still job #1 for us.
>
Because of mandates from the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), we have closed or reduced many of our services and supports, suspended visits to our residences, encouraged staff who can to work remotely, redeployed staff, mandated social distancing, secured increased personal protective equipment (PPE), and trained our staff on how to stay safe and when to stay home – all while providing 24/7 support in our residences.
>
ABC News effectively captured the challenges the people we support face in coping with the “new normal” in this report.
>
We deeply understand the struggles that families of the people we support are dealing with, and we are trying to support them through these challenging times. We hope that you and your family are in good health and in good spirits.
>
We have planned for the worst and continue to see the best from our staff and our supporters, for whom we are beyond grateful. In spite of the hardships people are experiencing, they continue to support our mission. We are more humbled than ever by the generosity we have received from our community over the past few weeks.  The new stimulus bill enables taxpayers to take a one-time above-the-line deduction for cash contributions of up to $300 made during these challenging times. If you are able to make a donation to our current We Are Essential  campaign, please know that it is truly needed and appreciated.
