Pre-Vocational Opportunities at Arc of OnondagaArc of Onondaga provides skill- training opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities through the pre-vocational program. Pre-vocational training helps individuals build essential skills which may assist with transitioning into the vocational world. Through hands-on training, individuals are able to learn, identify, and develop skill sets within the Monarch (Arc of Onondaga’s vocational division) sites. Monarch participants provide services which include but are not limited to: packaging, mailing, assembling, woodworking, recycling, sorting, and other custom services based on a business's specifications and requirements.
Supervision, assistance and support are provided by the Arc of Onondaga staff to ensure that each participant may aspire to reach their vocational goals. All individuals in the pre-vocational program are assessed upon admission by a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor to ensure proper vocational placement. Individuals are placed based on their abilities and interests, and functions of the particular vocational center.
